I’m Pia, an instructor with 10+ years of online and in-person teaching experience. My passion is to empower learners, build their confidence, and add meaningful value to their lives as they upskill, grow, and reach their goals.
About
Pia Bautista is a licensed professional teacher with more than 10 years of teaching experience in both online and in-person settings. She has worked with learners of all ages—from curious 3-year-olds to professionals and executives—helping them build skills, confidence, and a love for learning. She holds an AB Literature degree from the University of Santo Tomas and a Professional Teaching Certificate from the University of the Philippines Open University. Beyond teaching, Pia is a published magazine writer in the Philippines and facilitates community workshops on raising children who love to learn. For Pia, teaching goes beyond the classroom—it’s about empowering learners to grow, discover their potential, and become lifelong learners.
Teaching approach
1. Learner-Centered I adjust my teaching according to the learner’s age, level, personality, needs, and goals rather than using the same approach for everyone. Practical example: For a 5-year-old learning English, I might use songs, stories, pictures, and movement. For an executive, I might focus on presentations, business vocabulary, and real workplace conversations. 2. Confidence-Building I create a learning environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and try again. Practical example: Instead of immediately correcting a learner who makes a grammar mistake, I might say, “Good try! Let’s say it this way…” and have the learner practice the improved sentence. 3. Practical & Purpose-Driven I connect lessons to real-life situations so learners can immediately see the value of what they are learning. Practical example: Rather than teaching vocabulary in isolation, I might have students practice ordering food, introducing themselves, answering interview questions, giving presentations, or communicating with colleagues. 4. Learning Through Engagement I make learning interactive rather than simply delivering information. This is especially important when working with children. Practical example: Instead of simply teaching emotions through a worksheet, I might use facial expressions, role-play, stories, and questions such as, “How do you feel when your friend shares a toy with you?” 5. Growth-Oriented I focus not only on what learners know today but also on helping them recognize their progress and become more independent learners. Practical example: At the end of a lesson, I might ask, “What can you do now that you couldn't do before?” Then I set one small goal for the next session. My Teaching Philosophy My teaching approach is learner-centered, practical, and growth-oriented. I meet learners where they are, create a safe and engaging environment for learning, and connect lessons to real-life needs. More than simply teaching skills
